Sonance vs klipsch1/29/2024 The choice then fell on speakers for wall and ceiling mounting, since multi-room customers like hidden installations.Īnd then Sonos has done something clever. And to keep things simple, it is simply called Amp.īut then someone must have thought: “Why not become an all-round supplier?” The item missinng on the list is passive speakers that can be operated by Amp. But because many customers who want multi-room at the same time want to keep the existing stereo speakers in the living room, Sonos has also always offered an amplifier with built-in streaming, in one form or another. What they do best is active, wireless multi-room speakers. Other than oomph factor, this is very good match up too.Sonos is on a somewhat unfamiliar ground, having for the first time embarked in the art of making passive speakers. Have tried Marantz PM7001 -> KEF R300 too. Marantz PM7001 (pre) -> Outlaw Audio M2200 (monoblocs) -> KEF R300 Again, finicky about placement and content fed into them.Ĭompared to all the pairings of LS50 with various amps etc, I found KEF has got it right with LS50 Wireless amp design/pairing. One more option you have is to go all active. CA, Marantz, NAD, Rega, etc will pair well with KEF Can understand your predicament but when putting down large monies, trust your ears only KEFs do a very good job on mids/highs and vocals are great bass depends on model They are very finicky about placement not for small rooms in big rooms listening sessions will demand power Something like KEF will need generous space around them (3 feet from walls is ideal) They get the imaging, soundstage and balance right though.īut they have a rowdy side, if robbed of space around them. KEFs sound bright compared to my older B&W. Really liked the sound signature, so when I got the opportunity bit the bullet and got KEF R300 (jumped a range up). Yes, they shine when there is muscle behind themĭuring my audition phase, I listened to Q series (all of them FS and BS). They are monitor speakers and can put you off, if you are not looking for clinical rendition. Have listened to LS50 and they are not for everybody. Hence trying to understand what exactly is that you are seeking?Ĭlick to expand.I will give impressions on KEF here. But then I am rambling as you already know of these elements A poor DAC or low bit rate music will defeat the purpose of all these upgrades. Music follows the principle of garbage in, garbage out. Which gets us to the budget you have in mind? A good speaker will need a good amp and then there will be the element of source. ATC's SCM19 are another set of speakers with a very neutral and clean sound but need heavy amp pairing. Then there are bookshelves from DynAudio or ProAc which have superb mids. I have heard KER R300s with Denon and it sounded harsh. For better mids, KEFs are a good bet provided they are paired with a warm amp. If you want better separation then Paradigm Monitors are worth a look (I used to own Monitor 9 and can vouch for it). If you want less harsh top end then Klipsch is not the brand for you (with its horn setup). better separation, better imaging, more refined mids, less harsh top end etc etc. You haven't answered the question though - is it just greater refinement you are seeking or something more specific? E.g. ![]() Little attacking, aggressive and forward sound signature. Have not auditioned Klispch so can't comment. KEF cost 115k but heavily discounted due new release of Q950 Careful selection of electronic and IC necessary else entire sound signature turns to bright side. Better micro dynamics in high frequencies than KEF. Midrange is similar to KEF but low end extension and agility better than KEF. ![]() Similar to KEF but more detailed and insightful. Next speaker come in my mind Monitor Audio Bronze 5 with Pioneer VSX 9xx and 6 with Marantz SR-6012 Will work with both mentioned amplifier easily Little polite towards low end extension and agility. You will be fooled like there is a center speaker in between two front speakers in stereo listening. I have auditioned KEF Q500 with Denon AVR x2300 and Q900 with Marantz SR-6012.Ĭlean,clear and musical with strong and focus center image and have life size sound stage.
